Metal Gear Solid Peace Walker Accessory Set

IN THE BOX
Carrying Pouch
The carrying pouch is actually what I liked the most as it goes well with the color of the special edition PSP released in the MGS Peace Walker bundle. The pouch also includes an additional compartment to store UMD games so you can carry some extra games in it. I just got it so I can’t really tell you about durability but it looks very well made (I added some reference pictures)
Face Cover
My major complaint and the reason why I took 2 stars off the kit is the face cover. Yes, it looks pretty cool, the olive color with the Militaires Sans Frontieres insignia goes very well with the limited edition PSP. The face cover is attached to a plastic cover for the screen so it is protected from scratch and dust while it is on. The big problem with it is that it is designed so it snaps in place easily without being too tight to damage the PSP… or stay in place. It is very easy to place, which makes it very easy to be removed as well. Once closed, if you wish to open the face cover you need to hold the bottom part of it so it does not go off completely, if you don’t hold it, you will end up getting off the whole thing when what you actually wanted was to open the face cover only. This in my opinion, is not user friendly at all.
Cleaner Strap
Shaped as a dog tag, it is a nice add-on so you can clean the PSP screen with a cool looking design in the same color as the face cover. You can place it in the specially designed opening for the strap on the bottom part of the PSP.
Decorative stickers (PSP-2000 & PSP-3000)
The stickers included are those of the insignias used in the game and can be placed in the PSP. I don’t like to use any kind of stickers on my consoles so I don’t think I use them. The designs are really good for those who’d like to use them.
Exclusive in-game character code
I have yet to use it but I understand the code unblocks a character outfit and a cadet character for Snake’s mother base.
As many other reviewers have stated this officially licensed kit looks pretty cool. For me, the real value comes in the shape of the carrying pouch as the face cover with the flaws I mentioned is useless to me. I am a big fan of the Metal Gear series and that is the reason I decided to pay full price for this even when there are similar products without the MGS insignias for a better price. I included some reference pictures of my notes above. If you are a fan, you will not be disappointed, if you are looking for a practical face cover for your PSP, this may not be what you need.

This accessory set is a must have for any MGS fan, especially if you have a PSP and the Peace Walker game. I didn’t have a case holder or any kind of protection for my PSP system so I decided to give this set a try and it has exceeded my expectations. Everything it says it has is accurate and there is nothing cheap about it what-so-ever.
- The digital camo case is very durable and sleek, inside the main zipper can store your PSP and also has a smell pocket inside of it to carry miscellaneous things.
- The outside zipper can hold a couple of your PSP games and/or movies.
- The protective screen covering is easy to slip on and off and for what it does, it works great and protects your screen from damage, dust, and whatever else that can threaten the PSP screen. If you rather it not be on while playing it can just as easily come off as it goes on but from my experience.. with it on, it doesn’t hinder my experience at all.
- The small dogtag lanyard was something I didn’t really realize it was until I touched it, it can fit on that small opening on the bottom left of your PSP and besides looks it doubles as a soft screen wiper if it ever needs buffing. It as well can be put easily on and off, or tucked away in the extra pocket inside the case. The string is also very flexible.
- It does come with stickers you can put about anywhere but I am holding onto them for now.
- The additional bonus code comes along with it, packaged with the stickers. Easy to redeem, it is actually a bonus outfit for Snake and an extra female personnel member for your Mother Base.
At first it may seem like a third party company manufacturing it (HORI), but that isn’t the case it is an official product made specifically for MGS: Peace Walker.. so if you passed up the opportunity to buy the Peace Walker PSP bundle, most likely because you already had a PSP, then this is the next best thing.. highly recommend it!

When I’ve heard that Metal Gear Peacewalker was being released with those nice camo PSPs and cases and stuff,it upset me because I already have a PSP3000,also I didn’t have $200 at the moment.
But when I saw this item as a pre-order,I jumped at the moment and snatched it up on day one.
I got the game and finished it days when this item FINALLY came at my doorstep.Ah well.
First of all,the packaging is legit.Heck, the whole set is officially licensed! The case is nicely built. Its a soft case so don’t expect any protection from dropping it.It can fit a maximum of 4 UMDs.The stickers are made for smooth,polished-like surface of the 2000/3000 UMD door. The little cleaner key chain can double as a cellphone wiper too,a cool extra. The download ticket will score you an in-game Hori T-shirt plus a female cadet.
My only problem is the faceplate. If you are a PSP only gamer(I’m not,I got like,3 other systems),you would’ve purchased a extended battery. The extended has that bulging cover along with it which messes with the cover.Worry not though. With a little surgery to the right area, you can make it fit correctly.Use a scissor or a knife(at your own risk). Its a flimsy cover and will come off easily.Meh.Still I give it a perfect score because I knew what to do and I like it’s style.
Its only good for the 2000/3000 PSPs.If you have a 1000 model, you can jam it in there,if you want.PSPgo users can buy it if they want an actual-physical fan product. It’ll fit ace.
Buy it,you won’t regret it.

I first bought a PSP, way back when the system was first released in 2004 or 2005. Over time, I kind of got bored with it, because the games I initially bought for it weren’t enough to hold my interest for very long. After a while, I wound up giving it away to my older brother. I consider myself a rabid MGS fan, but neither Portable Ops or Portable Ops Plus was enough to lure me back to the PSP. Fast forward to fall 2009. I read gaming news on the internet that a brand new MGS game was being developed for the PSP, with personal guidance and supervision from none other than “Mr. Metal Gear” himself, Hideo Kojima!! Now this really piques my interest! A while later, I found out that GameStop would be releasing a Limited Edition-exclusive Camo colored PSP-3000 with the new MGS game and a 4 GB Memory Stick included, dubbed “The Big Boss Pack”!! This, I figured, would be the perfect opportunity to jump back into the world of PSP!
The game is awesome and the Big Boss Pack is great, but now I will go into my thoughts on the Accessory Pack, since that is what this review is supposed to be all about. This is a good buy if you have a regular PSP or purchased the Peace Walker Entertainment Pack, but if you were lucky enough get your hands on the “Big Boss Pack” from GameStop, than this automatically becomes a “MUST-HAVE”! This is the perfect companion to the “Big Boss” Camo PSP! The olive drab face cover with the insignia of Naked Snake’s mercenary company, Militaires Sans Frontieres, emblazoned on it goes so nice with the overall camo color scheme of the PSP. It is also easy to fasten to the device and stays on nice and snug, once you snap it into place. A glass screen shield comes integrated with the face cover, ensuring your PSP screen has an extra layer of protection. The set also comes with a sturdy carrying case. In fact, the carrying case that comes with this set, seems even better than the one that comes with the Big Boss Pack! It even has a seperate pocket for a couple UMDs, which the case that comes with the Big Boss Pack does not have.
It also comes with 3 nice, glossy decorative stickers, a small cleaning cloth that you can fasten to the PSP, and a PSN voucher code for bonus game content. At $25, this is very hard to beat. If I only had one small, minor complaint, it would be that there is no protection for the backside of the PSP, like with the Logitech PSP case, but this should not be a major hang-up, unless you are extremely clumsy and prone to dropping things often. This is a very good buy for regular black PSP-2000/3000 owners and people who got the Peace Walker Enterainment Pack. But I can’t stress this enough. If you have the “Big Boss Pack”, THEN YOU NEED TO ORDER THIS NOW! It’s the perfect accessory kit to carry, decorate, protect your Big Boss PSP, and show the world how crazy you are for MGS: Peace Walker!

While the pictures look nice, let me assure you everything in this pack in real life looks cheap, feels cheap, and is cheap. The PSP Cover is a thin fragile plastic, where the tension is too tight on the hinge and too loose on the PSP gripping section; so you need to hold the PSP and the grip section with one hand and open the cover with the other hand. The downloadable codes are for wortheless characters that can be picked up anywhere in the game, and a worthless in game t-shirt that provides no utility whatsoever. The screen cleaner could make a nice decoration for some, but it is made of that really low quality “soft” material that might feel unique the fingers, but will scratch or smuge your screen sooner rather than later. Only the PSP case has redeeming value. And for some a Metal Gear Solid themed case, might be worth the price of this set. The rest of you: BE WARNED!
